Get Ready for the 2012 GATE River Run!

The 35th annual GATE River Run promises to be the biggest and best ever! Last year over 21,000 runners and walkers participated in one of the three featured events. The 15K is the main event with over 17,000 participants. The GATE River Run is the largest 15K in the United States and will once again serve as the USA 15K Championship with America's top Olympic athletes competing for $85,000 in prize money. The other featured events are The Florida Times-Union 5K for Charity and the adidas Junior River Run. Both of these events had over 2,000 participants last year.

The GATE River Run has all the ingredients of a great running event. The course starts at the stadium, the home of the Jacksonville Jaguars, runs through the heart of downtown Jacksonville where the race crosses the St. Johns River over the Main Street Bridge, runs through historic San Marco, down Atlantic Blvd to the beautiful and scenic St. Nicolas area, and then crosses the river for the second time over the green monster, the Hart Bridge, and features a one mile downhill to the finish at the stadium.

Live bands perform at ten different locations on the course to keep you pumped up throughout the race! Water stations are located at every mile and medical stations can be found at several points along the course. Thousands of spectators come out for yard parties all along the route, and the Publix Post Race Celebration is second to none! The GATE River Run is more than a race.
