Championchip Timing
Disposable Chips
The Gate River Run will be using disposable ChampionChips to time runners in the 15K again year. We will have mats at the starting line, 5k point, 10k point, and at the finish, which will enable us to give every runner a net time. The net time is the time it takes to run from the actual starting line to the finish. The cost of renting a chip is including in the entry fee.
Just lace the chip into your shoe lace and the Chip will do the rest. Because the chips are disposable you can dispose of them in recycling bins that will be set up after the finish line or you can keep it as a souvenir! These chips can only be worn in this race. They will not work for any other race. If you wear the chip again in another race, you will not be timed.
Chip Technology
1st Place Sports uses the ChampionChip to time most of our races. This radio frequency based technology enables runners to receive an exact select time as you cross the finish line. This technology will speed up the results process and enable less lag time between the race and the awards ceremony.
Purchase Your Own Personal Chip
You can Purchase a ChampionChip or even a Customized Chip. You can use it at any race in Jacksonville, or any other part of the world that uses the ChampionChip technology. Most of the races will offer a discount on your entry, if you have your own chip. 1st Place Sports races will give you a $2.00 discount to chip owners. All logo chips are $35. You can purchase the logo for $5 (logos can be replaced on your chip).
